Granites Gold Project

Back to case studies

Upgrade of existing plant

The Granites Ball Mill Project involved the upgrade of the existing grinding circuit by replacing three smaller mills with a single new 5.5m diameter x 9.3m EGL, 4.7MW ball mill, 12/10 (355kw) pumps (2 off) extension of the existing feed conveyor; installation of a new bulk caustic storage facility adjacent to the existing bulk cyanide storage facility; a new carbon safety screen near the tailings thickener; demolition of an existing section of the original CIL plant; and relocation of a slurry pump to bypass the tailings thickener.

Ausenco’s scope included the detailed engineering design for all disciplines; preparation of process flow sheets, mass balances, design criteria and P&ID’s; technical and commercial evaluation and recommendations; preparation of data sheets and specifications for all equipment and site construction contracts; procurement, inspection and expediting for all process equipment; completion of capital and operating cost estimates; and site construction and commissioning.
