Hidden Valley Gold Project

Back to case studies

Project delivered in PNG rainforest

The Hidden Valley Gold Project included the construction of a 4.2 Mt/y Gold Processing Plant in the remote highlands of Papua New Guinea, approximately 150 km south of Lae, Morobe Province. The expected annual production from the mine is 300,000 oz of gold and 4.5 Moz of silver per annum.

Ausenco’s scope was for the provision of the full EPCM services for the design, construction and commissioning of the project including the process plant, site access roads, water supply, power supply, site accommodation and associated infrastructure.

  • Excellent safety record with over two million man hours worked LTI free
  • Site layout constraints as it was a confined site location in the PNG rainforest
  • Extensive earth works completed in very difficult ground conditions
  • Logistics and freight executed in remote rainforest site
  • Peak construction workforce of 2,400 personnel with extensive use of local labor.
