Kerrobert Thermal Facility Phase One Expansion

Back to case studies

Ausenco assisted True Energy Trust in due diligence for the acquisition of the Kerrobert reserves and facilities, and subsequently for the refurbishment and debottlenecking.

Ausenco inspected the facilities and provided recommendations for improvements and debottlenecks. Upon acquisition of the property by True Energy Trust, Ausenco provided services for a major expansion of the plant and field facilities. The project required the conversion of four cold producing wells to SAGD, the addition of two well pads, the reconditioning and installation of a steam generator, the installation of disposal pipelines, and general facility debottlenecking.

Ausenco provided full EPCM services, including the FEED, detailed engineering, procurement of all materials, construction management, and commissioning assistance. The project was completed in a very tight time frame, and resulted in production facilities capable of producing up to 5,000 bbl/day of heavy oil.

Project highlights:

  • conversion of four cold production wells to SAGD, including multiphase fl ow measurement and facilities
  • added two well pads
  • refurbished and installed steam generator
  • installed produced water disposal pipelines
  • 215 m, 370 °C underground high pressure steam line with road crossing
