Mine to Port Transportation Options

Ausenco completed a preliminary study for an iron ore mine in the Salinas area of Minas Gerais state in Brazil.

The study evaluated the transportation options from the mine to the port via pipeline or rail. The study also assessed two port alternatives along the northeast coast of Brazil. The proposed terminal alternatives had an initial throughput capacity of 25 Mt/y with a design capacity of 50 Mt/y.

The scope of work included a preliminary design criteria study, high level conceptual terminal and rail arrangements, and capital and operating cost estimates.

The terminal arrangements included dewatering and filtration process facilities, rail receiving, storage and shipping facilities.
