Ausenco contractor San Martín achieves 1 million manhours LTI free at Constancia
In April 2013, one of Ausenco’s major contractors on the Constancia project, San Martín, achieved 1 million manhours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI).
The Constancia project, owned by HudBay Minerals Inc., is situated at 4,200 metres above sea level in the Chumbivilcas province, department of Cusco in the South Andes of Peru. Ausenco is managing the Create (EPCM) project to develop a 74,000 t/day copper and molybdenum concentrator, ancillary process plant infrastructure and greenfields construction.
The San Martin team has worked through tough weather, high altitude, frequent storms and variable geotechnical conditions. In spite of these challenges, they have maintained an uncompromising position on safety.
Senior Ausenco and HudBay project managers attended a special celebration to recognise this important milestone and praised the team’s commitment to living the Ausenco value of Safety in all we do. San Martín’s Project Manager Jose Patino also spoke with pride about his team and their commitment to safety.
Nearly 400 members of the team participated in the celebration to mark the achievement, which featured a band, dancers and a soccer tournament.
San Martin has been the benchmark of safety for all the other contractors on site. Well done to San Martín and the Ausenco site team!
