Ausenco Perú team joins Beach Day
for Dr Tony´s Kids
In late February a group of Ausenco Peru volunteers participated in the 6th annual Dr Tony’s Beach Day for 40 children with different levels of medical conditions who live in Hogar San Francisco de Asis in Chaclacayo.
Around 45 volunteers, including employees and family members from Ausenco Peru and our clients Hudbay Minerals and Barrick, participated in the day at Santa María del Mar, around 40 kilometres south of Lima.
Our volunteers helped set up for the day at the beach and take care of the children on the sand and in the water. As many of the children did not know how to swim or had not been to the beach before, volunteers partnered with each one to ensure everyone enjoyed the sun and the sea safely with activities including swimming, splashing and body surfing, sand castle building, shell collecting, soccer and Frisbee. Ausenco hats, healthy food and plenty of water were also provided and were a big hit.
The day was deemed a great success by all participants – the children had a great time, and the volunteers enjoyed the opportunity to give something back to some very worthy young people. We’d like to congratulate all those involved, and particularly Aaron Beckett, General Manager, Environment & Sustainability, Ausenco Peru and his wife Tania for leading our involvement in the day.
