Rebuilding a Sifto salt plant after a tornado

Summary: Soon after a tornado struck the Ontario town of Goderich in August 2011, Ausenco was called upon to help Sifto Salt, the town’s largest employer, recover from the damage. This called for good engineering and construction management skills. Priorities were to limit damage to existing inventory, rebuild in a way that used materials that were available in short order at the quantities needed, bring production back on stream to meet seasonal demand for de-icing products, put employees back to work, coordinate with insurance carriers, and meet relevant building codes and safety regulations.
