FERCO of Norcross, Georgia is developing a biomass gasification process to produce a medium Btu synthetic gas from waste wood or other organic materials.
FERCO retained Ausenco Sandwell to provide project management and engineering services for equipment and system modifications required to bring the plant to a commercial operating status. The demonstration facility installed in Burlington, Vermont is capable of processing 200 BDT/d of biomass, generating 11,000 lb/h of SilvaGas (trade name) which is used by a conventional boiler, steam, turbine, generator unit to produce electricity.
