This project involved the construction of a 1 Mt/y gold processing facility. The process consisted of single stage crushing, SAG milling, CIL, desorption, gold room, cyanide reduction and tailings disposal. Ausenco’s scope included the engineering design and construction of all processing facilities, surface infrastructure, power supply, water supply, buildings and tailings storage facilities. Full procurement, expediting and inspection services, complete construction management including the utilisation of a largely local workforce, complete commissioning services, performance testing (including passing process guarantees) and training of plant operations people.

• Completed 20 days ahead of schedule and under budget
• No lost time injuries for project duration
• Project fully commissioned within 2 weeks, practical completion awarded within 4 weeks of first gold production
• Awarded the 2002 Engineering Excellence Award, WA division of Institute of Engineers, Australia.
