Strengthening the primary disinfection capability of gravity-fed, unfiltered water supply
Metro Vancouver needed to upgrade one of its main water treatment facilities with a sustainable long-term solution able to handle the region’s increasing demand for treated water. The Coquitlam UV Disinfection System will strengthen the primary disinfection capability of the gravity-fed, unfiltered Coquitlam water supply, and complement the existing ozone and chlorination processes. It is designed to achieve 3-log credit for Giardia and Cryptosporidium inactivation. Additional ozone production capacity will be 1,200 ML/day. The new medium-pressure (MP) UV facility will incorporate an innovative vertical pipe loop configuration.
