Ausenco Sandwell, in cooperation with a local consultant, provided complete engineering and management services for the conversion of the existing RMP and SGW pulping plants to a new 450-BDt/d TMP plant.

The project included the addition of two main refining lines (3 stages), complete with chip handling and washing system; new pressure screens; new 350-BDt/d peroxide bleaching plant (1 high consistency stage with post-washing); and bleaching liquor preparation system for the production of supercalendered (SC) grades.

The project also included the conversion of the existing atmospheric refining system to a reject refining line (2 stages) as well as modifications to the secondary effluent treatment aeration system and to the sludge dewatering system to handle the additional BOD loading. A new 161/13.8-kV electrical substation was installed to feed the new refiners.
