Tembec selected Ausenco Sandwell to perform the preliminary engineering for a project to optimise an existing board machine and to increase bleached board production to 175,000 tonnes per year.

Ausenco Sandwell carried out a technical audit of the board machine and ancillary equipment. The scope of the audit ranged from stock preparation to the finished product wrapping line, and included the coating kitchen. The audit identified the modifications required to achieve the capacity increase, the order-of magnitude cost of each modification, and a sequence of implementation that minimized overall project costs.

Following the review of the technical audit with Tembec, Ausenco Sandwell prepared a ±10% capital cost estimate for the optimisation and production increase project.

Subsequently, Ausenco Sandwell was engaged to provide the detailed engineering for this project.
