Ausenco Sandwell's initial investigations for this 1,430 tonne per day world class greenfield kraft pulp mill began in 1991. Forestry, mill site selection, geotechnical, environmental and engineering studies were conducted in succeeding years.

This single line mill utilises 100% Acacia mangium plantation wood to produce bleached kraft hardwood market pulp.

The limited recourse, globally financed, project included a turnkey contract for the complete mill including water supply, mill process equipment, effluent treatment and a turbine generator to service the entire mill. A new townsite for the mill staff and labour force was part of the project.

Ausenco Sandwell was responsible for the preliminary forestry and basic engineering as well as the coordination and preparation of the entire technical contract specification document from tender through to final negotiations.

Ausenco Sandwell provided all required technical advice for the financial advisors to complete financing and was the Owner’s Representative for the execution of the project. In addition, Ausenco Sandwell provided resident engineering services.
