Innovative heap leach and run-of-mine services for the technically demanding Chilean mining market

At Lomos bayas, an open pit copper mine located in the Atacama Desert, we have provided groundbreaking design and quality assurance services in both their heap leach and run-of-mine (ROM) pads in Phases 1 and 2 of their current program.

One of the outstanding aspects of our design is that Lomas Bayas ROM is the tallest operating heap, approximately 100 meters, in Chile today.

Our engineering designs have included studies to determine the placement of different structures, hydrology analysis to divert runoff from rain, complex stability analyses in a high seismic area, geotechnical studies to characterise soil foundation, and geomembrane and pipe selection.

Most importantly we have developed all the engineering studies and CQA services for these pads over the past 12 years of operation.  Of special note, although the owners of Lomas Bayas have changed three times, due to our innovative design capabilities and our service commitments to our clients, we are the only company which has survived these transitions.
