One of the world's largest offshore wind farms

As global energy demand continues to grow, new solutions are needed.  Ausenco Sandwell is working with NaiKun Wind Development Inc. to link more than 130,000 homes to renewable energy during the project's first phase. 

Located 90km off the northwest coast of British Columbia, the NaiKun Offshore Wind Farm will use up to 110 wind turbines to provide clean, renewable energy to meet the growing electricity needs of the region.  When completed in 2012, the project will be one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world, generating enough renewable energy to power 600,000 homes.

We recently completed preliminary engineering and associated management services for the first phase of the NaiKun Offshore Wind Farm.  In fact, we won the Consulting Engineers of British Columbia Award for Engineering Excellence in the Natural Resource, Energy & Industry category for our work on the NaiKun Meteorological Station - a key part of this innovative project.
