First LNG regasification terminal in Canada

Canaport LNG is the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal in Canada, located in the Bay of Fundy, home of the highest tides in the world. Ausenco Sandwell, in a joint venture partnership with Peter Kiewit and Weeks Marine, undertook an EPC contract.

Ausenco Sandwell designed the marine facilities including a jetty to accommodate LNG vessels of up to 270,000 cu m capacity, an access trestle with roadway and pipe support, unloading platform, LNG spill containment system, gangway access tower, berthing and mooring dolphins, catwalks, navigation and docking aids. In an effort to overcome harsh metocean and geotechnical conditions and to achieve an accelerated schedule, the facility was designed with tubular steel jacket structures.
