Marine facilities for the largest copper mine in the world
Ausenco Sandwell has worked in this facility since its conception. We completed the basic design, detailed design and the construction supervision of the marine facilities and we have been involved with all subsequent expansion phases.
The current berth is designed to accommodate up to 50,000 DWT vessels with a unique shiploader that has great outreach, a rotating curved spout (banana spout™) enabling the ore to be deposited efficiently anywhere in each ship hold, and an innovative new fendering system.
The marine facilities were designed to resist severe seismic events.
