Ausenco Sandwell provided detailed engineering services for Temple-Inland's mill expansion.

The scope of the project involved all areas of the mill, including a new No. 5 paper machine producing 600t/d of coated bleached paperboard, complete with three on-machine coaters, finishing and shipping facilities; No. 5 fiberline, a 1,200 t/d softwood kraft system including a two-vessel Kamyr digester and four-stage bleach plant; and a new 400 t/d lime kiln and causticising system.

The new No. 5 paper machine was designed to produce 200,000 saleable dry tons per year of uncoated paperboard at 80 to 120 lb/ft2, or bleached coated paperboard at 84 to 156 lb/ft2. It is designed for an operating speed of 1,600 ft/min and a trimmed width of 262” at the winder. The machine is equipped with multiple on-machine coaters with coating drying which precede a glossing calendar.

A 4-stage pulp cleaning system, a pressurised screening system, and a stock preparation approach system are installed, as well as machine auxiliary systems.
