Leach pad solutions for a challenging environment

The Pierina Mine is one of Ausenco Vector's signature projects in South America. We have been working on the project for over a decade providing the client with innovative design solutions for the leach pad and best-in-class construction monitoring support services in a very challenging environment.

Our services, which personify our core values, have helped Barrick meet their values of sustainable economic development and protecting the environment through our ingenuity and award winning designs.

For this project, we developed some first-in-industry practices which have been very successful, such as placement of the leach pad liner system on near vertical slopes, high head internal leach pad pregnant solution pond with vertical caisson pumping system, leach pad raincoat and surface water management system providing increase stream flow below the project, and one of the 1st compartmentalised valley fill heap leach leak detection systems.
