Ausenco Sandwell designed the elevated guideway for Section “C” on Phase 1 of the SkyTrain project. The elevated guideway in Section C runs from Stadium Station across the reclaimed land of False Creek to connect to the prebuild test section at Main Street Station. The entire section is twin-tracked and incorporates a number of switch structures. Structural span lengths are in excess of 30 metres and, for the majority of the section, are composed of two-span continuous precast prestressed concrete standard SkyTrain beams supported on reinforced concrete columns founded on piles. Next to Stadium Station, a threespan continuous post-tensioned metre central span was required to provide the necessary roadway clearances over Pacific Boulevard and to accommodate a cross-over structure.
