Waste-to-Energy Power Generation Facility

Brand:
Ausenco Sandwell
Client:
Green Planet Energy Corp.
Location:
Tultitlan, Mexico

Ausenco Sandwell developed and completed the preliminary engineering study and capital cost estimate for a new 43 MW Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) fired power plant in Tultitlan, Mexico. Part of a regional integrated centre for valorisation of waste, the new facility will recuperate the dry organic fraction of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and convert it into RDF for thermal treatment to produce electricity. RDF includes wood, paper products, cardboard, textile, plastic, rubber, tires and a small concentration of wet organics. A state-of-the-art Circulating Fluidised Bed (CFB) boiler suitable to generate 170 t/h of steam at 70 Bar and 470°C (375,000 lb/h, 1014 psig, 878°F) feeds a single extraction-condensing steam turbine driving a 43 MW, 0.9 pf generator. Power is generated at 13.8 kV and stepped up to 230 kV for connection to the local power utility transmission lines.
