Our people are central to what we do so we work hard to keep them safe. We believe zero harm is achievable.

Our people are our strength and we believe in creating a workplace where people feel safe and supported.

We continue to work towards our goal of zero harm.  To achieve this we have implemented a range of health and safety initiatives across the company.  For example, we are rolling out a ‘balanced scorecard’ approach to measuring safety and raising the profile of health across the entire business.

This commitment to continually improving our safety record is evidenced in the performance of our teams across the world in 2009:

  • Hidden Valley, Papua New Guinea: recognised for safety excellence having achieved more than two million hours lost time injury (LTI) free
  • San Bernardino County Wildfire Clean-up, Canada: received a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program Award for managing the $18 million clear up of almost 300 sites of fire debris, without a single injury, after more than 500 homes were levelled by a series of wildfires
  • Greenfield Energy Centre Project, Canada: received the John M Beck Award for demonstrating extraordinary leadership, creativity and innovation in addressing health and safety.  The team worked more than 2.6 million hours with zero critical injuries
