The Clean Gypsum and Paragoethite plant is located within the Pasminco Metals EZ zinc refinery in Hobart, Tasmania. The plant incorporates leaching, filtration, flash drying, palletisation, mixing, rotary drying, combustion of solid wastes and gas handling and cleaning.
Ausenco’s scope included the preparation of a definitive capital cost estimate to obtain board approval; development program resulting in techniques and equipment to handle paragoethite; supervision of a test program for gypsum flash drying; flowsheet and process development; detailed engineering design; procurement and construction management and commissioning.
Project completed on time and within budget
Successful pumping of extremely difficult material involving extensive pilot testing and engineering development
Project completed within minimum disruption to process operations within existing plant
Development of purpose built filter cake liquification equipment and high pressure slurry pumping systems.
