Hemmera provides Goldcorp with a team of Yukon-based experts with intimate knowledge of Yukon assessment and licensing complemented by Vancouver-based technical capacity that is scalable to their specific needs.
The Coffee Gold Project is a proposed gold mine in Central Yukon including open pits, waste rock storage areas and a cyanide heap leach supported by crushing, solution processing, consumable storage, and camp facilities. Access to the site is via air, barge, and an all-season access road south from Dawson City. The Coffee Project requires a screening by the Executive Committee of YESAB, Type A and B Water Licences, and a Quartz Mining Licence among other smaller regulatory authorizations prior to proceeding. The Coffee deposit is progressing on an accelerated development timeline. Specific strategies have been developed to minimise both timeline and budget risk through Yukon assessment and regulatory processes.
Hemmera was engaged to manage the Yukon assessment regulatory processes for the Coffee Gold Project. Hemmera manages inputs from a multi-disciplinary team of a dozen consulting firms contributing expertise in mine design, mine engineering, transportation and logistics, biology, hydrology, hydrogeology, water modelling, surficial geology, geotechnical engineering, risk assessment, socio-economic effects assessment, heritage resources, and consultation. Hemmera project managers, systems, and processes integrate the outputs of this team into a YESAB project proposal, management plans, and regulatory applications. On behalf of Goldcorp we set and track; scope, deliverables, inter-dependencies, and schedule for the regulatory process.
Hemmera’s team assembled the Project Proposal for an Executive Committee Screening while working closely with Goldcorp to create and execute methodologies and templates, review discipline assessments, and author non-discipline assessments.
Hemmera’s Yukon-based effects assessment, licensing and consultation/engagement experts have set the strategic direction for Goldcorp to manage and minimise timelines and risks associated with Yukon assessment and regulatory processes. Our team has worked with Goldcorp to develop a robust and integrated consultation program with affected Yukon First Nations and engagement program with assessors and regulators.
