Jim is Manager of Studies for Ausenco, responsible for ensuring the uniform delivery of high-quality mining studies from the Vancouver office as well as growing our study services in the US Southwest and Mexico. Jim has over 19 years of experience working on mining projects from the study phase through to EPCM project delivery and commissioning. His skills include project estimation, scheduling and procurement, construction management, field commissioning and site remediation. Jim’s early career involved environmental remediation for legacy mines and chemical sites – experiences that inform his approach to studies today and his commitment to improving environmental and social best practices in the mining industry.
One of the keys to Jim’s success in the industry is his reputation for honesty and trust. This mantra has resulted in a strong network of clients who continue their relationship with Jim today, and colleagues who follow Jim for his strong leadership. He has experience in managing diverse, multi-discipline and multi-lingual teams of over 300 direct reports that meet client needs and accomplish project goals.
Jim has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northern Arizona University. With a long-term goal of opening and expanding an office in Arizona, he is best positioned to achieve this goal due to his strong network and experience in the region. He is an Arizonan who understands the region well. Jim is a member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) USA, the Arizona Mining Association (AMA), and the Arizona-Mexico Commission.
