Working at Ausenco provides me with the opportunity to be part of a strong engineering team, on interesting projects, with good clients.
Our value-adding approach means we can almost always squeeze more out of a project, whether that's getting more for less in a new development or surpassing the planned capacity of an existing facility.
One example of this approach is when we completed a significant upgrade at the Port of Long Beach at an operational terminal with a maximum two week shutdown, by focussing on constructability and developing unconventional structural designs. It was an intensive, but rewarding and successful project to be part of.
I've worked at Ausenco for over 10 years and it feels like my family. There is a great comradery amongst the Ausenco team which makes it a pleasure to come to work each day.
During my time at Ausenco I've had the opportunity to work in multiple roles across the company, from office support, business development, project controls and project coordination. Changing roles has been a challenge but I now have a broad range of skills and experience which I can put to use on our projects.
My hope is to work on a large EPCM project where I can follow it from start to finish, beginning with the engineering in the office and finishing on a site role during construction.
To anyone considering a role at Ausenco I'd say Ausenco is a place that you can feel really proud to work for. We have a team of first class engineers and project people who don't just deliver projects but focus on finding maximum value for our clients.
For me, it’s the people that make my job so great. We have some very strong discipline leads here at Ausenco and I have been fortunate to have worked with many of them. Everyone really cares about the work they do, but they also care for one another. We are all supportive of one another and work as a cohesive team in order to do the best work for our clients.
A few years ago I had the opportunity of working as a field engineer for one of our clients. This role was quite challenging, as it was a brand new experience for me. I had seen designs created in the home office but never really knew how much work was involved in constructing these designs.
There were often questions asked of me for which I did not know the answer, but I was able to maintain a continuous line of communication with our leads in Calgary, and always had the support I needed in order to provide a timely response to the construction contractor. Overall this was a fantastic experience for me and helped me to develop both professionally and personally.
I would recommend working for Ausenco to anyone who values strong and supportive leadership. I have faced challenges on the various projects I’ve worked on, but during these times I always had the support of my Project Manager and Discipline Leads.
While our management team does have a strong focus on client satisfaction, they are always aware of the needs of Ausenco employees and have our best interests at heart. Being part of a global team is exciting. It makes me proud to think of all the projects being completed all over the world, in several different sectors. I believe there are endless opportunities both for the company and for those working here.
Ausenco is a great place to work with many opportunities for career development and advancement.
The work culture and the people are two of the other key reasons I enjoy working here.
Working at Ausenco has also broadened my expertise through exposure to other business lines beyond oil and gas, which has allowed me to provide additional service offerings and value engineering to my own clients.
