Paul is Ausenco’s Executive Vice President of ESG Strategy with over 25 years of experience in Environment, Social, and Governance projects. Paul founded Hemmera in 1994, building a world class environmental consultancy that employed some of the brightest environmental planners, scientists, and engineers in the business. Attracted to Ausenco’s global leadership in the resource sector, Paul and his leadership determined that a combined service offering would be highly desirable to clients. In 2017 Hemmera was purchased by Ausenco.
Working with the leadership of Ausenco, Paul works to define and implement a strategy around ESG that will open opportunities for all aspects of our business. Paul focuses on services to improve the environmental, social, and governance of existing and developing projects so that they continue to be sustainable for years to come. In this capacity he applies his personal experience in managing and operational efficiency in strategic pursuit opportunities.
“What has peaked my interest in ESG is that Environmental, Social and Governance issues have never been more important in our history, and getting involved now allows me the opportunity to make a difference in the world for my children, and hopefully their children. As countries look to re-start their economies, the opportunity to do so in a greener and more sustainable manner is now. It is imperative that we start thinking and acting on ESG in a proactive way in order to meet the needs of all our stakeholders and confront the issues of climate change, inclusion and diversity, to name just a few of the core elements of ESG.”
Paul is personally committed to the establishment of sound and sustainable business practices. He was a nominee for BC Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002, was recognised as a 40 Under 40 Achiever in BC, and holds an MBA from Dalhousie University and a B.Sc. in Geology from Queen’s University.
