Ausenco Co-Founder and CEO Zimi Meka inducted into Engineers Australia Hall of Fame

Engineers Australia, the industry’s peak body in Australia, inducted Zimi Meka into the Engineers Australia Queensland Hall of Fame. This honour reflects Zimi’s lifetime passion for engineering, his genuine commitment to community, his business acumen and his contributions to Australia.

Through ingenuity and private enterprise, Zimi has exported Australian engineering services to the world for nearly three decades. His 1991 vision to build a company committed to finding a better way to design, construct and operate, environmentally and socially sustainable minerals processing facilities developed into what is now a recognised global leader in the mining engineering and construction space.

Ausenco currently has over 2,500 employees in more than 14 countries with annual revenues exceeding $500 million. 85% of Ausenco’s work is offshore, bringing Australian engineering expertise to projects all over the world.

Zimi remains firmly committed to engaging local delivery partners and creating opportunities for communities by his unyielding support through the Ausenco Foundation, Ausenco’s Indigenous Program, Ausenco’s STEM Scholarship and Ausenco’s commitment to under-graduate employment.

Zimi currently sits on the Great Barrier Reef Chairman’s Panel, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Fellow of Engineers Australia. He was recognised as one of Australia’s most influential engineers in 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015, Queensland Professional Engineer of the Year in 2013, Queensland University of Technology Alumnus of the Year 2008, and was awarded the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy’s Institute Medal in 2009.
