Jay joined Ausenco as part of Pipeline Systems International (PSI) when it was acquired by Ausenco in 2008. He had been a core member of the PSI team since it was founded in 1979 and was integral to the development of slurry hydraulic concepts, particularly in the area of pipeline slack flow control and monitoring.
In his Global Practice Lead role Jay provides technical guidance and thought leadership for our global pipelines team members. He is also responsible for the Brazil slurry laboratory set-up, staff operations, and scheduling.
He has worked extensively in both practical and theoretical aspects of the pipeline, telecommunications and automation fields for more than 40 years. He has experience in all phases of design, integration, and construction management. He has spent several years in the field during construction, commissioning, and start-up on various national and international projects.
Jay has been responsible for various gas, liquid, coal, and mineral pipeline system technical and economic evaluations and designs, as well as specialty mine backfill reticulation systems. He has been involved the study, design and implementation of some of the world's most groundbreaking long distance pipeline projects, including MBP, Samarco, Minas-Rio, and Logum in Brazil; Alumbrera in Argentina; and Los Pelambres in Chile; Transgas in Portugal and many others.
He has also made engineering contributions to the Kennecott UCD tailings and fly ash systems, Alumbrera and Pinto Valley copper, Kudremukh iron, Century zinc, and ETSI coal pipeline projects, as well as numerous other conventional, thickened, and paste tailings systems, including red mud pumping.
Jay has authored or co-authored numerous technical and conference papers and is a sought after conference speaker.
